I've said before that DRM in its current form is ineffective because you need more than just DRM to do the job. Piracy can be controlled effectively, if we want it to be done. Problem is, most people are too afraid document security will turn the world into a police state, and the next day we'll all be put in front of a firing squad without trial for littering.
If security was all that was needed to accomplish that, the keys to your car, the cable box on your TV and the number on your driver's license would have done us all in a long time ago. Get over the whole Big Brother thing already.
Is DRM annoying? Maybe. So are closed stores when you want to shop at 3AM. Doesn't mean you have a God-given right to break a window and take what you want. Some things in life are annoying. Get used to it.
