For what it's worth (info from here), based on findings of reader resellers, they also replace broken screens), even within the same model line, Sony seems to use different kind of screens:

1) LG Vizplex LB060S01-FD01 / Vizplex LG LB071WS1-RD01 (used on 900s) screens => most suffer from "Washed Out" problem
2) PVI ED060SC3 => not as dramatic as LG, but still has problems
3) PVI ED060SC4 => do NOT suffer from it (also have a tad better contrast)

The most recent 505s use PVI SC4 => the best screen out there.
Some 600s have LG some PVI screen.
The guy I'm citing haven't seen 900s with PVI screens (doesn't mean, they do not exist)
