There was a news item about some big porn sites offering HTML5 streaming specifically for the iPad around the time of the launch. I'm pretty sure you can find whatever turns your crank (so to speak) using mobile Safari, despite the lack of Flash. And no, Steve Jobs is not going to be personally monitoring your http requests to make sure you're not doing anything he doesn't approve of.
There are a multitude of Apple policies with which one can reasonably disagree, but this is just getting silly. Of course Apple isn't going to allow porn in their store.
Does Amazon have a hardcore porn category I'm not aware of? Why doesn't Netflix offer Bondage Biker Babes for my Watch Instantly pleasure? Why do I have to use a web browser to find Two Girls, One Cup instead of downloading it directly from the Zune Marketplace? Hell, my local Best Buy doesn't stock a single volume of "Bang Bus"! Don't those companies believe in freedom??
Well, no, it's that those companies know that carrying porn wouldn't be worth the inevitable backlash from the media and 'concerned parents' groups. But somehow, Apple doing the same is a hideous assault on personal liberty. Give me a break.
If it's really, really important to have a dedicated porn app on your handheld (or is that one-hand-held?), well, there's a platform for that.
Obligatory strawman-repelling disclaimer: no, I'm not a prude who wants porn outlawed. No, I don't think there's anything wrong with people using porn. At the same time, I think there are appropriate and inappropriate channels of distribution, and a platform that's popular with kids and teens falls into the latter category.
