As much as I dislike spiders, jumping spiders are fascinating. If you get close to one, or gently tap near it, it will turn to face you (or at least, the UK ones do).
Yvan - I've used the foot stomping trick before, most recently when I saw thin legs start to appear from under the freezer! The rational, logical part of me knows I shouldn't be scared of them - especially as the ones in the UK aren't exactly the most poisonous (I did get a bit of a shock when I discovered that some species of them here are poisonous
). But despite all that, I really don't like them, especially indoors.
