I tired to get some Lilly of the Valley started down by my pond when I first moved here. I was never successful. any growing tips?

there is, believe it or not a flock of WILD parrots that have managed to thrive in town. they live on cellular tower and have been the cause of many arguments at the town council. somehow they manage to make it through the winter just fine. last I heard the flock was in the low 100s
