Finally got it done... my solder gun didn't want to get hot enough. But, dd it, put the board back in the control unit, and turned it on... YEA! Green power light and Generating lights!!! Woot!!!
That's the good news... the bad news is, after a week with no chlorine the pool is pretty green. So, a lot of sweeping and filter back washing in line for the weekend and beyond.
But... it was worth it to save the $300.
