Amazon could do a better job at communicating with its Kindle customers. I doubt many of them even know kindle.amazon.com is there for them to use.
The highlight sharing feature is supposed to be FOR Kindle customers to find interesting books to read, and I really don't see it as invasion of privacy at all: it is not YOUR words, it is not possible to identify the users who highlighted the words, and it is impossible even to derive the reason the words were highlighted since none of the context is captured.
