IMO text is text, for straight reading of novels the current e-readers are fine.

So if all you plan on doing is reading novels, grab a Kindle, Sony, Nook or the various other devices out their and get reading! There won't be any big improvements in e-ink dedicated readers between now and there.

And there's already been some great deals, saw the Sony pocket reader was $120 or $130 on Slickdeals the other day (think it was from Newegg.com). That deal is over, but point is you can find great deals now.
