Off topic: Did you ever get that FAQ up? I just DL gimp/inkscape. And why are you not a writer anymore?

I never did finish the FAQ and I'm not really writing anything I'd consider to be worthy of the title 'author'. I still write, but now it's just pulp, quick stuff and outlines for the series in my pulp venture. I came to a realisation that writing is pretty much dead as anything more than entertainment. Which is no bad thing really, but it means I have to shift my passions and in some cases forget about them altogether to get something off the ground. The way I see it this is like the old pulp days, you've got to set up a house and pump it out quick, fast and recognisable if you want to keep things going and growing. Individual authors who aren't in collectives or 'houses' are going to have a shitty time in the next couple of years just trying to keep their names out there, let alone if they want to make money. I believe there's a five year window for new publishing ventures to take off and either stay as
indies or take the money and run when the corporations offer buyout money. Five years of rapid growth then someone will come along to cut off the dandelion heads.
If I write anything personal and what I consider authorial, I'll just put it out into the Public Domain and see if it floats.
