Export from Word XP to HTML then run it through SIGIL. Apply any of the H1 - 6 headings to the titles of the stories or anything you want to show up in the TOC, re-save out. This will creating a working ePub with TOC. You can then convert this ePub with Calibre (it should retain the working TOC).
