Until you get used to the "gray" - you might want to try using an LED reading light, such as one in the "
Mighty Bright" series. The color temperature of these lights really brightens the PRS-600's screen. At first I thought I would be relying on the light for most non-daylight reading situations, but discovered I got accustomed to the gray to the point where it doesn't bother me so much any more. I still use my Mighty Bright in the dark, however
