No, I meant edit the EPUB directly. What I do is open the EPUB with WinRAR (on another OS you could just rename it to .ZIP) and find the CSS file, then extract it, edit and put back in the EPUB. I typically have to take a look at one of the chapter files to determine which CSS classes are at fault.

I don't know enough about how Calibre merges CSS to tell you whether using the additional CSS can help you fix the problem, but my guess is that you will have to look up the specific classes used by the book anyway.
