Also, anything by Jen Lancaster (Bitter is the New Black, Bright Lights Big Ass, Such a Pretty Fat...). She has a great narrative voice, she's screamingly funny, and her books are always good for a lift.
While not the right time, I also recommend "
Reproduction is the Flaw of Love" by Lauren Grodstein. It's an interesting meditation on relationships, why we stay with people and the ways in which each relationship informs the future ones. Maybe something to read when there's a bit of time and distance.
