@kovid thanks very much. turns out calibre detects the user agent and serves the mobile version even if we dont use /mobile

I feel silly but i am conjuring up a tutorial for the common user to use this feature productively. sp with kindle and its limitation on ports in url. may be kindle v2.5 will support that
