I find it very hard to read (track) a line on a 20", 16:10 widescreen.
Sometimes I rotate my old 14" 4:3 monitor and put Portrait oriented files there, Including the Calibre viewer.

overall system appearance settings in Windows (Display|Appearance|Advanced|3d-Object in XP)
what you do affects everything.
