Get a WinRAR or free Zip or something that deals with zip files, you don't have to rename anything, in my case I use winrar, I set winrar as default opener for .epub instead of adobe digital edition, and I open each and every epub file that I have with it, found a file called stylesheets.css , right click it and delete it, and that's it. This whole process can be done without rename the file and it won't damage the .epub files. If you don't know how to set a software as default opener for a file, just right click the file, choose "open file with" or something like that in the menu, then you'll be able to browse which software you wish to open that typical file defaultly.
The whole process take me about 1 minute for all my 40+ files, so I'd say it's worth it.
