What is this issue about word/line spacing with re: to ePub docs?

I have ePub, prc, txt and html docs (Books) and they all look pretty well the same. I can change justification but the space between the lines on the screen seems to look ok to me. I noticed that it does change depending on the font size being used.

I have come across a few docs where each line seams to have been terminated with a "carriage return - linefeed". In those situations the text layout only looks good if you select the smallest font size and rotate to landscape where it fit across the page.

Most other documents use a cr-lf at the end of a paragraph. All the sentences within the paragraph contain no cr-lf between sentences which allows the text to flow across the screen regardless of the font size.
