As for Disney's iPad site, I'd hardly call it "dumbed-down", but since you don't have an actual iPad to test it on I wouldn't expect you to know that....
scottjl, obviously a lot of large and small companies completely disagree with with you, such as (again) Adidas, Nike, Disney, Reebok, most movie sites (e.g. http://www.avatarmovie.com), etc..

For sites which have to wow their visitors, Flash is the best and most efficient way to do it. It also reaches the widest audience. So, the iPad is disadvantaged here, and there is no amount of excuses that will change this. Live with it and stop trying to diminish its significance.

Regarding Disney, I can see the mobile version on my iPhone, and it is dumbed-down - it doesn't have anything close to the interactivity and richness of the regular Flash site.
