You can do the same thing without the paper clip. If you are one who is confident in flashing the reader you can go into the \opt\sony\ebook\application\resources\applicationS tart.xml and change one of the functions you don't use often to do="doQuit" I did "0x42-hold" do="doQuit" since I don't find myself rotating the screen very often. This makes it "power down" when you hold the size button for 5-10 seconds. Then next time you go to use it you will have to wait for the reader to "boot" but if your going 2-3 weeks without using your reader you are probably going to be willing to wait 2 mins for it to boot and be able to still have some battery to work with!
