I still have the following email to Amazon support in my email folder sent to them over a year ago:

Comments:Are you planning on updating the software on the Kindle 1 to support some of the new features on the Kindle 2? I realize that you can't support everything due to hardware changes, but I'm hoping you will continue to improve the original model and not abandon the early adopters.
