Just got a friendly and prompt reply from Spring Design:
- Copy the .png files to the folder SD:/ebooks/covers.
-And here's the trick: Clear the data in the application (settings) "library".

Generating the .png files is easy of course. I just imported the files from Alex into ADE. ADE generates the cover files and then copy them back to Alex.
