The issue you raise are well known to people here as you can imagine. DRM stripping and format shifting are often discussed on the forum under various threads and, whilst opinion is divided, my guess would be that most people think that, so long as the files don't get distributed to others, these are legitimate activities if you have got the files legitimately - which you obviously have if you bought them from B&N.
