Just a quick note to say that I read Nick Spalding's shamelessly self-promoted Life Without a Break without a break. I'll explain why this was a single-sitting book in a fuller review later.

For now, I'll just say that it was the most compelling, honest and fun read I've had for a long, long time. Much more than beginner's luck. As I read, it came as no surprise to find that, when it comes to snappy, grabby writing, Nick has more than a little pro experience under his belt.

This is the best buck-and-a-half I've spent since the mid-sixties, when I could have got smashed out of my brain on good English ale for an entire weekend on that kind of loose change ... and stlll had enough left over to pay someone to carry me home.

Here's karma to ya, Nick. Neil
