For whatever reason, that doesn't work. I've tried it to the point where I've bruised leaves. I'm sure part of the problem is the proliferation of lantana that people grow as shrubbery around here. No one bothers to spray them and they are big attractions for spider mites.

The water also isn't cold enough coming from the hose (which I have heard that cold water helps). I think they just sip the water and laugh...

I use neem oil and it works okay, but it isn't very strong so requires spraying about every 3 to 4 days to keep the population of spider mites down.

I've tried buying the bug that eats them too (escapes me at the moment...another kind of mite maybe.) They are just a bane!!!
