Cardinals get quite an entitled attitude when you start feeding them - they expect you to be on time with fresh seed!
When I lived in a tiny 3rd flood apartment I put seed out on the windowsill every morning - and a pair of cardinals became regulars. I slept in one Saturday morning until I was woken up by the male cardinal - who was pecking angrily on the window screen and screeching at me - I was late with HIS breakfast!
