I believe you can do that with Calibre too (at least with the 300,505 & 600). If you have a large series say 30 books and you want them in series order on your reader you can use Calibre to ensure they are in proper order on your device.

1. To start ensure the series is not currently on your reader.

2. Sort your main Calibre library by clicking on the series column. Now find the books in your series. Make sure they are in ascending or descending order as you wish by clicking the sort column.

3. Now that they are in the order you want them in select the entire series in the Calibre library. Now send them all to the device at the same time, using the send to device option.

Now your entire series is on your reader in Series order.

This works for the rest of the Sony line, hopefully it works for the 900 too.
The Sony reader software is painful to use. And having to delete and add series over and over whenever a new book is added via Calibre is a pain. And it removes the 'read' flag.

But the point is now moot, because I bought a Pocketbook 360 to have a more portable reader to keep in my purse, and I love it so much that it has become my everyplace and only reader. I gave my PRS-900 to my Dad.
