That is a better analogy for me, as in that analogy I DO want a compact car. So it's not a case of being disappointed the Civic isn't a truck or SUV etc.
Speaking literally, I DO want a tablet device that is not a full tablet PC. The iPad is just lacking a few features that are deal breakers for me, so I was disappointed as it gets a ton of other things like form factor, battery life etc. right.
