The iPad display, like any other standard LCD is essentially invisible in bright sunlight --- function of the technology chosen. Anyone who needs outdoor viewability will need to choose a screen technology which allows that such as a reflective or transflective LCD or e-ink, or one of the nascent screen technologies.
