Your post made me laugh!

Not sure how well this would work for you but I took a two-prong approach:

1) Example / assimilation: We were on vacation and I had most of my reading material on my reader at the time, a Palm Tungsten E. He was a bit jealous of my light carry-on, and then he ran out of reading material, so I had him read "The Great Train Robbery" by Michael Crichton on the Palm. He was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable it was to read from such a small screen

2) Education: I had him read this article (my all-time favorite on e-reading): http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/news/...ure-e-book.ars and by that time he was gung-ho to buy some real readers (and retire the little Palm)
