gardenstate;

Can I use a PC with an SD card reader?

Yes, works great.

Does the card need to be formatted by the Sony ebook?

No, the Reader does not format SD cards.

How can I transfer the files to the reader for viewing? (as an alternate to the posting just above this one)

Transfers can be made to the Reader via CONNECT software to either the internal memory or the SD card, via libprs500 to either, or via a card reader attached to your computer (or part of your computer.) All work great.

Is this it? (is the method above better?)

Since CONNECT only works with PCs running Windows, libprs500 provides options for people with a Mac or for those running Linux.

Put DVD into a PC DVD drive, select the desired files and copy them to a file folder on the hard drive, insert SD card into a USB 2.0 SD card reader, drag and drop the desired files to the SD card, insert card into Sony ebook -- select file and read away? or?

That method will work fine. The trick is to find a method that works best for the way you like to organize and operate your computer.

I have CONNECT installed on one desktop and one laptop plus I have libprs500 installed on another desktop. For me both are critical pieces of software that enhance the Reader experience.
