I don't know if my current ereader (nook) supports page background in epubs or not. It does for pdfs, so I thought it might.
The only software I'm aware of that does everything anyone might want is Adobe InDesign, which is way too much (complicated
) for my personal needs.
Anyway, I have not seen a simpler (or better), wysiwyg document to epub feature anywhere else. As it is now I use, Open Office writer + eScape + Azardi + Calibre + Sigil not nearly as simple (clearly), but it gets the job done. Once you get character styles (text boxes) supported, I am definitely a buyer.
