My condolences to the families of those (at least 22) who were killed, as well as those who lost their homes, businesses and whole neighborhoods as a result of more than 50 tornadoes that hit several states on Saturday, and included Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Mississippi (which was the hardest hit).

It's heartbreaking to think that a few seconds of violent weather can result in the death of so many. Those few seconds can cause the total obliteration of everything you worked an entire lifetime to build, and a moment later the sky is clear and blue, and the sun shines as if nothing had happened at all.

Except that now when you look around to where your home once was, there's little of your life left recognizable if anything is left there at all. It's gone in an instant.

And the sun shines brightly, as if mocking your loss.

So sad.
