Hey Kartu, that sounds great. I almost cannot wait until "browse folders" is ported. Really great.
For the files on the card: if you don't change the content of the card or if you don't take the card out and reinsert into the reader, the reader shouldn't rescan the memory (neither external nor internal) at all. So once you have set up your books on card and the reader and have scanned it once, you should be fine. If you change content or reinsert a card, the reader is checking for changes in its database.
