Now that I agree. At $300 I'd own one just for use as a pure media consumption device--e-books, net surfing, some video watching etc. At $500 I can't quite justify it, at that price it needs to be more than a toy, and be something that can make my research work easier etc. and it's not quite there on that front.
Outstanding media consumption tablet, I just can't shell out $500 for that though.
