Apple is giving you a SD slot, it's coming as a $29 accessory in a few weeks. Apple's software is limiting it to importing photos (and maybe video). But it might be possible to import other file types, we'll only know when it's finally available. No, it isn't a built-in slot, but at least it will be an option.
