It looks like the delay in an iPad version of Stanza may be the result of Stanza's owners, Amazon. At least the program's creator is directing the iPad question away from his company and pointing to their corporate overlords.

Speculating, it may be that Amazon wants the choice of ebook readers to be essentially limited to iBook and Kindle for iPad at the time of the launch. It would make business sense to Amazon to delay or stop a Stanza for iPad because Stanza's popularity and the diversity of formats which it can handle provide users with many options for content other than Amazon or itunes. Purchasing Stanza gave Amazon the ability to control Stanza's direction. While it is already a presence on the iPhone, Stanza does not need to be introduced onto the iPad--at least, until Amazon feels more secure in the Kindle reader's place on the tablet.
Am i reading too much into this?
It would have been great to have Stanza available for the iPad at launch. It provides access to books in many formats that iBook and Kindle do not. The iPhone version runs but is blurry at 2x. Its tolerable but not attractive.
