I've never used bookmarks with paper books - I just remember the number of the page I stopped on. I can remember the page number for 3-4 books at once, which is all I need.
The only time I've found myself using bookmarking on my reader is if it's a book I'm reading for a class and have to write a paper on - then I'll bookmark sections relevant to my paper topic.
