So I would like a device that allowed me to save anything that I found on the net and take it with me wherever I go. I already have a lot of "e-books" saved in my PC, which are mainly pdf's. So I have to make sure I will be able to read pdf's reasonably on my Sony Reader. Someone in this forum said that you can solve the legibility problem of pdf's by formatting them into rtf's? So, as far as I understand, there will be no problems with pdf's on the Sony Reader... ?

I suppose we have almost the same purpose of usage of the e-ink devices. I have been watching them for quite a long time now because I also need to read lot of articles and other text in electronic format and am very uncomfortable with reading that on the computer display.
My advice would be: If you need it VERY urgently, then you might want to consider the Sony Reader. But be sure to spend quite a while going through this forum and looking at PDF reading on Sony Reader workarounds. There are several of those, some better, some worse, but, at least for me, it is not what I am looking for.
So I would rather highly recommend to you to just wait, because there are
Plastic Logic products (see also
this post) in the pipeline. They are currently building a factory in Germany and plan to start production in 2008. To me, this looks like a killer, but it remains to be seen whether they can fulfil their promises and also get the products on the market in time.
