The battery is completely discharged. It will need to fully charge before you are able to use it again. It seems normal that it freezes on the last screen it remembers. If you plug into your computer make sure the computer stays turned on and doesn't go into hibernate mode. You probably won't see the red light for a few hours if charging via a computer. The alternative is to get a Sony PSP charger and use this to revive the 600. You will probably see a red light right away and it will probably be good to go after an overnight charge.
