Also, the screen should be blank when it's in sleep mode. The iRex picture you're talking about sounds like you rebooted it, not put it into sleep.
You should only push and hold the power switch briefly to put it into sleep mode. The green LED will come on for about a second, and then go out when the screen blanks. If you push and hold the power switch for a couple seconds then it will blink and reboot, which will bring up the iRex splash screen. After 40 - 50 seconds of booting you'll be back at the main menu.

I have no idea how to power it off, but if I hold the button for a long time, something happens, maybe a reset. Anyway, from now on I'm using sleep mode and I don't care that much how to power it off.

Yeah, I also think that there are way more important issues to be dealt with, but if this is just a matter of few lines of code, it should be implemented as an option (something like when you set the screensaver on PC). I think making the zoom a bit more functional (check the 1st item on my list) would have to be the main priority.
Anyway, I am happy with my purchase and I wouldn't be that happy if the zooming would have not been added. I'll write more about what I think about the device (my first ereader, actually) in the impressions thread.
