. and you are quite right about the texture of the snow. I took a REALLY nasty fall in shorts once on an area that had gotten soft from the sun, the grooming machine had gone over it, thus roughing it up, and then it had gone into shadow and frozen with all the little bumpies. I totally shredded the back of one thigh, it bore a resemblance to hamburger for awhile and sitting was excruciating!
