After wrestling with the cat for a bit at the vets we got fluid out of the abscess and that didn't look pretty either.
Now I am back home and start popping valiums as I need to be prepared for a tough night: the cat can't have his midnight treat (the 8.3 kg have to come from somewhere ), he can't go out (*sigh* he refuses the use of a litter box) and he has to go back to the vet tomorrow morning by 8. Surgery for scrapping out the cavity and inserting a drain.
As if a sleepless night with a yowling cat won't be enough, he will have the last surgery of the day and will then be released back into our care with a collar. And of course, all of that will be my fault.

I feel your pain. But lucky we have a large garage. Put cat in with bean bag and towels(he had drains in his head from abcess)(Those are my diamond earrings). The collar causes more pain than letting him scratch the wound so off it came immediately.
Litter box supplied never gets used. He will hang on forever. Thats another story about hernia surgery(I call that my diamond ring).
Stay calm. I am sending you relaxavibes.
