My desktop is "business only", for me that's music creation and Photoshop, so I don't want iTunes or games and such cluttering it up.....

Also (to show how really bizarre I am) I run Windows 7 Starter on my Gateway netbook and home made desktop.....and love it! Starter does just the things I need, nothing more. I tweaked it a bit, and it is faster and more stable than XP ever was........ sorry for the completely off topic......
I disagree 100% My netbook is infinitely more useful than my ipad for alot of purposes. A netbook meets more peoples needs than the iPad. Also the netbook "fad" has sold ~40 million with targets of 15 million this year alone.

One can actually type much better on a netbook, as well as run a huge stable of software that actually doesnt cost. Google docs actually runs on it. So does Unswindle *grin* Slingplayer on my netbook doesnt cost $30 as opposed to my iPod Touch. VNC Viewer doesnt cost $10 on my netbook it is free. Stellararium is an incredible freeware planetarium program. It is infinitely more open than my iPad. VLC will play any format video you throw at it. My netbook actually support bluetooth headset profile so I can use VOIP with it. I can do that with my iPad as well if I want to plug in OR use it as speakerphone. Oh and dont forget about calibre. And Google Earth.

IMO They are totally different devices. iPad is mroe for consumption as opposed to creation. Netbook is a great travel laptop to use for creation. If I were going to write a novel, Id use a netbook over the iPad. The netbook is my laptop replacement. Surfing in bed, iPad will win hands down. If it wasnt for my netbook, the iPad would be going back and I would be looking at a Win7 tablet, since Apple limits what one can do with the iPad.
