You have a lot of issues that you're discussing, because you're aggravated with your circumstance, but I want to address one:

Just because you can get books from Sony that are out of copyright does not mean they are therefore "practically useless." When you ordered your Reader, I'm assuming you were offered the 50 free Classics, and $50 in credit for any book.

50 Classics at $1.99 each is $100. (Take 100 Classics and mulitply that by $1.99 and that totals $200)

Yes, indeed, the Classics are available elsewhere - many available even here - and for free. I prefer to think the ones here offer more "functionality" [links] and look better. When the people here - or anywhere else, for that matter - put these PG books together and make them available, even though they are available elsewhere, do you think we feel they are therefore useless just because they're public domain books?

Perhaps the thing that attracted you to the Sony Reader was the advertised low price and ONLY the $50 in credit. If the Classics hold no interest for you (based upon the original offer), then why write about it in your letter here. In other words: as part of your argument, this is a weak argument. Perhaps you never intended to buy the 50 free Classics, given that for you they are useless to you.

There are other holes in your argument, but not in your anger. Other members here have provided phone numbers. If you can't get the service you need, then get authorization to return it, cancel the Sony Card, and walk away.

There will be other ereaders out there, and they will be out there soon. They won't cheap.
