First thing this morning:
Employee walks into office and plops down into chair: "I've been meaning to ask you about this really weird thing that's been happening on my PC here at work.
[My blood begins to chill now] I've been getting these emails ... Well, let me start at the beginning. Last Thursday
[My blood approaches absolute zero] someone sent me an email at my home Outlook Express address that contained really good information
[translation: funny cat pictures most likely] and I wanted to have it at work. So I forwarded to my work email address
[Major violation of company policy] and it arrived OK. But ever since it arrived here the oddest thing started! I keep getting personal emails here at work that I already got at home last night. Even though I downloaded them at home or deleted them. It won't stop happening! Do I have some sort of Trojan
[resist urge to wish aloud his parents had used a Trojan 50 years ago] or virus?
Me:
[What I want to say is: No, you don't have a Trojan, you have stupidity. Lots of it.] Why no - it sounds to me like you've set your work email address as a forwarding account on your home email address. So instead of just forwarding the 1 email, all are being forwarded.
Employee: "How'd I do that? Outlook Express is SO complicated that I really don't understand how to use it."
The discussion went ever so much downhill after this.
So, how did your day start today?
