When Sony announced they would stop selling the Clie line in the US I decided that keeping an abandoned device, a NX70V, as my primary PDA would not serve my handheld computing needs. I knew OS6 was a ways off. The T|3 and Zodiac 2 became my (very) short list of candidates for an immediate upgrade to my otherwise 2-3 year cycle.

The gamer in me had me leaning towards the Zodiac. The timing of the retail lauch was a blessing. I was hesitant to buy the Zodiac sight unseen without first having the opportunity to test drive one. Despite the limited capabilities of the demo units at CompUSA, I knew immediately that the Zodiac would be my next device and I bought one soon thereafter.

When Tapwave comes out with an OS6 Zodiac sometime in Q3 or Q4 of next year according to the latest statements by Tapwave, I'll decide whether or not OS6 is worth an immediate upgrade. As it stands, the Zodiac provides multimedia capabilities equal to or greater than the OS5 Clies without the proprietary APIs and Memory Stick media. Several popular applications support the Zodiac's screen (portrait and landscape 320X480 & 480X320) analog controller, stereo sound and rumble effects with more released almost daily.

I don't think the differences between what my Zodiac can do now with OS 5.2T and OS 6 will be worth it at first considering the amount of time it will take for OS 6 applications and support to become readily available.
