a) It's a fair cop. I'd never use the HP laptop I'm typing on outdoors either. Each tool to its task.
b) The jetBook is good because it doesn't have any of the 'features' LDBoblo requested. It only does one thing, cheaply and well. (I have my own very short list of minor annoyances with it, but no showstoppers.) That's not much different from most reflective display readers, LCD or eInk. If 80% of the time, the box is showing a simple, static, screen of text you shouldn't use a powerful microprocessor. Ditto higher than needed resolution.
c) The killer swat, IMO, was when he pulled the jetBook out of his pocket, flicked it on with one hand, and it showed up well on camera with no fiddling. Nice hit.
d) You read indoors on a jetBook just like you read on a paper book. "TURN ON THE LIGHT, YOU IDIOT! YOU'LL RUIN YOUR EYES."--Mother
None of these points make me more or less likely to buy an iPad. I'm still on the fence waiting to see how it works after a software upgrade or two, and some real-world reviews.
