Right now, today, it is currently:

1. The best reader to read web pages.

2. The best reader to read technical PDFs.

3. The best reader to read from dusk to dawn or in low light situations.

4. The best reader to read comic books on.

5. The best reader to read color documents.

6. It is also the most versatile reader, supporting two major book stores: iBooks and amazon (and very soon adding B&N).

The above facts are undeniable by anyone who has tried the portable readers currently available (i own all the major ones). It is also better than netbooks and many pcs at the tasks above, and certainly is more portable and has much better battery life than any pc out there.

And yet despite all of the above, naysayers such as jswolf continue to deride it, and the iPad does not even have it's own dedicated forum among the ereaders it has nearly made obsolete on here.
