Why is it every 6 months or so my Sony Reader Library software crashes and I have to do a complete uninstall and reinstall, including deleting all data files. When I contacted Sony support and asked them what I am doing that keeps causing this to happen, they told me they were "aware that there is a problem with the software". First of all, "DUH!!" Secondly, answer the darn question!!!!! After that incredibly deep and profound statement, the rep tells me how to do a manual backup since I don't download books from the Sony Reader store. Once again, "DUH!!" Why do they have to assume that every customer they deal with is a novice, especially since I had given him information that should have indicated that I was an experienced user. I LOVE my Sony Reader but HATE the Library software. If I could annotate in Calibre I would flush the software into the nearest commode (figuratively, since literally would have me flushing my laptop which would definitely be a bad thing ). Thank goodness I have everything backed up but the whole process is excrutiatingly annoying.

Not to mention that my Book Designer software took a hit somehow and is no longer working. I need to do a little more debugging but I will probably have to start from scratch with that software as well. It could just be a coincidence but it seems like everytime I download updates to my Apple software (Itunes, etc.) something gets zapped. Of course, my husband has been messing with my laptop to try and optimize it (it's over three years old and starting to show it's age and lack of storage).
