Hi again All,
I've been reading with interest other Gen3 users' problems with corrupted files.
My loop of death problem was caused, I think, by three corrupted files out of nineteen (yes 19) I downloaded from two of the Uk's best established booksellers, Waterstones and WHSmith. Before I ping off to them in suitably robust language I want to check something.
I downloaded each e-book file individually then disconnected the Gen3 from the computer to see if there was a problem. When, after a download, it went into the loop, I opened the ebook file on the computer and discovered a file called "manifest", which to my untrained eye looked very much like a recovery file.
Deleting the offending e-book file - thru the computer - and the manifest file returned the Gen 3 to good health. (As captaingeorges said, the files show no errors and read ok in ADE).
So, am I right in thinking the "manifest" file is a sign of a corrupt file?
None of the ebooks which are now sitting happily on my working perfectly Gen3 showed a "manifest" file - only those that did caused the crash. Can't be a coincidence can it?
Any thoughts?
Thanks.
